Drawing on the refractive qualities of a macro lens to exaggerate the bokeh effect, this project offers an unseen look into the resilient flora of New York City. I photographed flowers and weeds in the streets of New York against the many types of city lights. These range from traffic and car lights, to bodega and outdoor restaurant ambient lights. The combination created a pleasing set of flora images against colourful light haloes. It is an abstract look at the nature and beauty present in the inner city by accentuating the tools of the photographic medium.
