The global COVID19 pandemic hit New York the week of the Persian New Years. We were urged to stay at home, and going out was an increasingly daunting endeavour. Traditionally, a table is set on Naw Ruz to bring in the New Year. Set with what is known in Farsi as the seven S table. Each item on the table starts with the Seen S from the Farsi alphabet, and each item represents something to do with health or prosperity. This year, the only item I could brave acquiring was seeb, the apple.
